6 Mile Cellars
6 Mile Cellars is located in the heart of the Lake Erie AVA, just 6 miles east of Erie, PA. Our grapes are grown in small vineyards, getting constant grower attention, and producing top quality fruit. Our winemakers turn this fruit into award winning wines that are sure to please a variety of palets.
Patrick Walsh and Barton Towell are two friends who have turned their wine making hobby into Harborcreek, PA’s first winery, 6 Mile Cellars. We opened in May 2012, just yards from 6 Mile Creek. Our tasting room is located in the cellar of a 100+ year old barn that once housed horses.
The barn has been renovated to create a wonderfully unique tasting experience that showcases the building’s original features and charms with comfortable modern touches. Sample our wines, relax on the patio with a glass of your favorite wine or, pack a lunch, buy a bottle and enjoy a picnic in the vineyard!
We specialize in aromatic white wines, but offer a variety of sweet, semi-sweet, dry, and semi-dry wines that represent the Lake Erie wine region. Our uniquely crafted and expertly blended wines offer a complex array of aromas and flavors that will please even the most picky palates.
Bart is the 3rd generation of the Towell farm and instrumental in the day to day operation and sales of the winery. His favorite wine “Fruit forward and well balanced dry red’s. Mostly though, it’s anything I haven’t had before.”
Patrick helps in all areas of 6 Mile while he’s located in Pittsburgh now his roots are in Erie. His favorite wines “Generally Aromatic Whites mostly Chennin Blanc, but honestly I’m okay with anything wet and cold.”
Hand Crafted Wines
Over 12 rotating hand crafted wines available through out the year. From sweet to dry, white to red, we love showcasing quality fruit from North Western PA & NY. We work with 5 growers who go the extra step to ensure the best possible fruit is harvested for us. We spend years planning, seasons growing, hours testing, minutes tasting, seconds serving all for a completely unique tasting experience of truely great wines from the East Coast United States. Please come and enjoy.
Two hard ciders and growing, from Old Snapper to Honey Badger, we’re not done yet. Still ideas fermenting, literally, and figuratively we’re looking forward to Hop Rabbit and others to soon compliment our cider portfolio. Please come and enjoy hand craft ciders you won’t find at your local beer distributor. These are higher gravity (alcohol), not sweeten from concentrate, real artisan hard ciders!
Wine on Draft
When 26 bottles isn’t enough… we carefully manage production of our wines to be served on draft from a nitrogen CO2 mix gas. Our mission is to compliment the beer draft industry through lower cost, higher quality, and quicker service wine tap systems. It’s a new concept for the East Coast but not uncommon on the West Coast or Europe. Please ask where you can find 6 Mile wine on draft near you!
